Last month Lynwood Civil Engineering joined forces with our client Wessex Water at the bi-annual Water Aid Race Night at Ashton Gate Stadium.

It was a wonderful evening and great to have so many people come together to raise money for such a worthy cause. Lynwood hosted a table of guests, provided prize sponsorship on the night & also sponsored a race horse – ‘Lynwood Lad’. Across the evening an incredible £106,835 was raised for Water Aid and we are very proud to have been a part of this initiative.

The money raised from the Race Night will go towards Phase II of the ‘Sanitation and Hygiene Improved Through Biodigester Technology in Greater Monrovia’ Project in Liberia. Building on previous achievements in Phase I, the project will focus on the following key result areas:

  • Outcome 1: Increased and sustained sanitation coverage through innovation (Bio digester/biofil toilets) for Households, institutions and public places in Greater Monrovia.
  • Outcome 2: Improved hygiene practices among healthcare practitioners, community members school-going children and HCF (Healthcare Facilities) workers within Greater Monrovia.
  • Outcome 3: Improved WASH governance, Urban sanitation planning and financing at national, municipal and community levels through advocacy efforts, enabling sustained operations and maintenance of sanitation facilities.

As Nick Miller, Mass Engagement Director from WaterAid said on the night, “the decisions we make today will have an impact for the years to come and transform and set the foundations for incredible progress”.

We look forward to the next one in 2026!
